  30. eye-hand coordination?

  39. Bridge for Windows deals four random hands of Bridge,
  40. selects the best hand to be yours and the second best for North.
  41. As South you will open the bidding.  Bridge for Windows bids as
  42. North responding to your bidding as a normal partner would.
  43. Bridge for Windows also bids the East and West positions.
  44. During play, you play the declarer and dummy hands as North and
  45. South and Bridge for Windows plays the opposition as East-West
  46.

  48. the weak two-bid structure whereas two clubs is the only forcing
  49. opening bid.  Bridge for Windows will assist you in practicing
  50. your bidding such that a partner recognizes what you mean by
  51. that bid.  However, that is not the intent.

  54. can readily switch to another task when your boss comes in your
  55. office.

  63. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  64. before buying it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue
  65. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  66. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  67. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  68. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  69. using the software to an updated program and a printed manual.

  72. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific

  74. programmers, just like retail authors, and the programs are of

  76. bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of distribution.
  77. The author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute
  78. the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group.
  79. For example, some authors require written permission before a
  80. commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  83. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  84. whether it's retail or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  85. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.

  147.             Installating Bridge for Windows
  148.  
  149. To install Bridge for Windows, follow these steps:
  150.  
  151.   Before you can use Bridge for Windows you have to run the
  152. setup program from Windows so it will work properly on your
  153. computer. You cannot just copy the files from the Bridge for
  154. Windows disk to your hard disk. The files on the distribution
  155. disk are packed in a special way to save space.  The setup
  156. program unpacks those files and builds them on your working
  157. disk.
  158.   
  159.   Bridge for Windows installation will pre-install the Visual
  160. Basic runtime DLL on your system, if you do not already have a
  161. version.  Other runtime files will be installed in the
  162. appropriate directory.  Windows version stamping resources will
  163. be used to ascertain if a file should be copied to your
  164. computer.
  165.  
  166.   1. Make Windows' "Program Manager" the active window.
  167.  
  168.   2. From Windows' "Program Manager", select "File", then select
  169.     "Run".  This will open the "Run" dialog box.
  170.  
  171.   3. Place the copy of Bridge for Windows in your floppy drive.
  172.     Now, the dialog box needs for you to type in the command that
  173.     will run the Bridge for Windows installation program.
  174.  
  175.      * If your floppy disk goes in your Drive "A", type:
  176.               A:SETUP
  177.        Leave the "Run Minimized" box un-selected, and click the
  178.        "OK" command button.
  179.  
  180.      * If your floppy disk goes in your Drive "B", type:
  181.               B:SETUP
  182.        Leave the "Run Minimized" box un-selected, and click the
  183.       "OK" command button.
  184.  
  185.   4. Fill in the required information in the dialog box.
  186.  
  187.      * Installation will assume that installation will be performed
  188.        from the floppy drive designation you typed in the previous 
  189.        step before the word "setup".
  190.  
  191.      * It will ask you for the hard disk "Destination Drive and
  192.        Directory" designation on which you want it to install Bridge
  193.        for Windows.  It will suggest a directory named "C:\BRIDGE".
  194.  
  195.        If you want the Bridge for Windows program files
  196.        installed on a different drive or directory, just click
  197.        the pointer to the right of the characters you want to
  198.        change, backspace over the ones you want to erase, then
  199.        type in the new designation.

  205.      * It will automatically build a Bridge for Windows icon and
  206.        add it to "Program Manager".  Accept the "Yes" (already
  207.        selected by default) if you do want it to do this.
  208.        Select "No" if you do not.

  210.   5. Bridge for Windows Setup will unpack the necessary files
  211.      and place them into the proper directories.
  212.  
  213.   6. Bridge for Windows Setup will notify you when the
  214.      installation is completed.
  215.   
  216. Bridge for Windows is installed and ready to use.  Double click
  217. the pointer on the Bridge for Windows icon and try it out!  This
  218. README.TXT and BRIDGE.WRI are also installed in the group for
  219. your browsing.

  275. Do not simply copy the files off your hard drive. Bridge for

  278. distribution disk if the files are not found on your computer 
  279. or the files on your computer are out of date.

  361.                   DeInstalling Bridge for Windows
  362.  
  363. If the situation arises that you need to deinstall Bridge for 
  364. Windows, use the following procedures:
  365.  
  366.     Delete BRIDGE.EXE, BRIDGE.HLP, BRIDGE.WRI, and README.TXT
  367.     from the directory where the software was installed.  Then
  368.     remove the subdirectory.  The default subdirectory is
  369.     C:\BRIDGE.
  370.  
  371.     This deletion can be through FileManager in Windows or
  372.     using DOS commands:  
  373.         CD\BRIDGE 
  374.         ERASE *.* 
  375.         CD .. 
  376.         RD BRIDGE
  377.  
  378.     In windows, activate the program group where the Bridge program
  379.     is displayed.  The default is BRIDGE.  From Program Manager, 
  380.     Select File, Delete for each Program Item and then the Program
  381.     Group. This will remove Bridge from Windows.
  382.  
  383.     Before removing the DLL's used by Bridge for Windows, you must
  384.     ascertain that the DLL or VBX is not in use by any other program.
  385.  
  386.     The files, COMMDLG.DLL and VER.DLL are most probably on your 
  387.     system because Windows 3.1 installs these files.  
  388.     
  389.     DO NOT DELETE COMMDLG.DLL AND VER.DLL  
  390.     
  391.     Other files can be deleted once you determine that no other 
  392.     program needs the file.  MDICHILD.VBX, THREED.VBX are stored 
  393.     in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory.   VBRUN100.DLL is in the 
  394.     \WINDOWS subdirectory.  Using File Manager or DOS delete, these
  395.     files can be deleted.  If you delete a file and later find that 
  396.     it is still needed, Installing Bridge for Windows will also
  397.     install these files.
